PRO: E-Mountain Bikes on Mt. Tam
Growing out of our participation in the MMWD community advisory committee, our initial project was to obtain equal access for electric mountain bikes on the Mt. Tam watershed. After five years of meetings, and with new MMWD directors elected in place of most of the anti-recreation ones, we now have a three year pilot program in which class 1 e-bikes will have equal access to conventional bicycles. This includes single-track trails which are part of the single-track pilot program.

ANTI: Illegal Throttle Devices Masquerading as E-bikes (the Super73 project)
Young riders on throttle mopeds like Super73s are giving legitimate e-bikes a bad name. We’ve learned that the throttle devices are not only illegal but account for the disproportionately high accident rate for 10-15 years olds. We’ve pioneered a school/law enforcement partnership to get these devices off our streets and out of our schools. We need your help in persuading school boards to implement.

NEXT FRONTIER: Legalize E-Mountain Bikes on Marin County Open Space
Marin County Open Space has been drafting on the MMWD. Now that MMWD has approved class 1 e-bikes, it’s time for MCOS to do the same. The project starts now.
